Realhouswives Ratings

It looks like reality TV drama addicts can’t get enough of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. I don’t blame ‘em, though. Did you see last week’s episode? I’m still stuck on Shere’s quote of the century, “Who gon’ check me, boo?” But anyway, according to TV news guru Cynthia Turner, the season two premiere attracted 2.66 million total viewers (primarily ages 18-49) for the first airing, while an additional 1.32 million viewers tuned in for the encore at 11pm.

The combination of viewers from both episodes totaled nearly 4 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Thursday primetime premiere in Bravo’s history, as well as topping the series premieres of other Real Housewives series in the network’s franchise.

I’m not surprised. Aside from the fact that the Atlanta housewives are novel because they’re Black (for the most part), they also bring more cattiness, more pretentiousness, more drama and that all translates to more entertainment. It’s the age-old trainwreck theory, or better—like watching the Flavor of Love girls but with money. Get your TiVo’s ready
